Rik Douglas Jeffery began their professional career as John Gibson’s legal assistant while attending Santa Monica College. Rik worked for John in various capacities for over nine years while earning their undergraduate and law degrees. 

Rik has a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California Berkeley and J.D. from the University of California Irvine School of Law. While attending law school, Rik studied bankruptcy, consumer, and banking law under a former Congresswoman and successfully argued a case in the circuit court of appeals.

After law school, Rik went on to become the lead regulatory attorney at Wykowski Law. Rik’s practice focused on compliance and commercial transactions, mergers, and acquisitions. Recently, Rik led Lender’s alcohol compliance and license acquisition efforts in the foreclosure of a 200+ million dollar hotel.

Rik is a co-founder and the managing attorney of Gibson & Jeffery, LLP. Rik brings a long history of experience in compliance and dispute resolution concerning local, state, and federal regulatory agencies to Gibson & Jeffery, LLP. Rik brings experience in litigation (including federal tax litigation), commercial drafting, negotiation, mergers, and acquisitions.

Rik specializes in alcoholic beverage brand start-ups, transactions involving regulated and distressed assets, representing clients before administrative agencies and tribunals, and helping sake start-ups import their products to over 15 US states.
